October 27

4:00 - 6:00 pm, Community Works is hosting an event with Harvard’s Schlesinger Library “In Defense of Women – Righting the Wrongs of 2014.”  The featured speaker is Carol Rose, Executive Director of the ACLU of Massachusetts. Joining her will be David Adams of Emerge, Judy Norsigian of Our Bodies/Ourselves and Kate Bicego of Health Care for All, member groups of Community Works, a social justice network.

The event is free and open to the public.

6:30 - 8:30pm, the Cambridge Women’s Commission and Cambridge Public Library is hosting a special screening of the critically-acclaimed documentary, The Supreme Price,  at the Cambridge Main Library, followed by a discussion with the filmmaker and Harvard Lecturer, Joanna Lipper. The Supreme Price takes an in-depth look at Nigeria’s female-directed democracy movement emerging in a troubled country struggling to develop after military dictatorship. It tells the story of a battle “for gender equality and democracy in a nation where both have been repressed for decades.”

The event is free and open to the public.

Flyers attached for both events.
